Associate Director - Artificial Intelligence

As Shamal Holding continues to grow, we’re in search of a Associate Director – Artificial Intelligence. This role will develop strategies and implement AI strategies, manage projects, communicate complex concepts, collaborate with teams, and ensure the successful delivery of AI initiatives, while enhancing the automation to autonomous journey and experience.

• Develop AI strategies through applied knowledge of how to build successful outcomes aligned with organisational goals, further translating them into detailed AI project roadmaps and implementation plans to guide the organisation’s AI initiatives.
• Communicate complex AI concepts and technical details to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner, and lead the identification of opportunities where AI can add value or solve existing problems.
• Manage the delivery of AI projects from inception, proof of concept, through to deployment, including requirements gathering, data preparation, model training, and integration.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business analysts to ensure cohesive and effective AI solution development.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and training sessions to enhance team understanding and adoption of AI technologies.
• Define KPIs and evaluate the impact of AI initiatives on business objectives.
• Establish partnerships with leading academic institutions, technology vendors, and startups to enhance the organisation’s AI capabilities.
• Where required, be hands-on in developing MVPs and products to support the organisation’s AI journey.

Financials Responsibilities (CAPEX and OPEX Budgets incl. manpower costs)

• Manage project budgets and resources for the successful delivery of AI projects.
• Manage net EBITDA impact through AI-led transformation value creation.

People Responsibilities

• Set clear expectations to the team, inspire, and motivate direct reportees, and lead by example. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members to help them achieve their performance goals.
• In collaboration with the People function, identify and address AI skill gaps, and create opportunities for learning and development for the employees.
• Mentor AI aspirants, fostering their professional growth, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to share insights to enhance AI literacy across the organisation.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of IT, with a focus on digital transformation.
• Relevant AI certifications or executive education.
• Proven track record of delivering AI-driven business solutions.
• Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, and data science.
• Practical experience with Python and OSS frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Knowledge of AI solutions from vendors like OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms and advanced data modeling techniques.
• Understanding data security, compliance, and privacy regulations.
• Strategic mindset to translate AI capabilities into business value.
• Strong ethical judgment and understanding of responsible AI principles.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
