Overview

Shamal Holding is a diversified investment firm that cultivates the extraordinary. Born in Dubai, we curate a unique portfolio of extraordinary investments, experiences and assets to generate meaningful outcomes. The investments we make are strategically chosen and thoughtfully nurtured, mirroring Dubai’s ambition, spirit and energy. As a global investor, asset owner and developer we utilise our resources, know-how and connections, to deliver long-term value, wherever we operate.

As Shamal Holding continues to grow, we’re in search of an Associate Director – Hedge Funds and Public Markets. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities across hedge funds and public market investment strategies by implementing deep analytical capabilities, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to lead complex workstreams in a fast‑paced and evolving environment. While the role will primarily focus on global equity strategies across both fund investments and inhouse holdings, ideally with a strong emerging‑market equity background, you will also gain exposure to other asset classes, including fixed income and hedge fund strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Primary focus on global equity investing through direct stock selection and external fund allocations.
  • Strong equity research background, including the ability to track MENA listings, analyze companies, and pitch high‑conviction ideas.
  • Prepare rigorous, data‑driven equity investment proposals, incorporating valuation analysis, industry research, and risk assessment, while maintaining high standards in writing, documentation, and risk reporting.
  • Lead investment due diligence for both direct investments and fund commitments, coordinating with legal, compliance, risk, and finance teams to assess terms, governance, alignment, and key risks.
  • Conduct industry, sector, and thematic research to identify trends, opportunities, and risks across global equity markets, and stay updated on regulatory, macroeconomic, and geopolitical developments.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on public markets investment strategy, contributing to asset allocation, pipeline development, and the refinement of investment frameworks and processes.
  • Perform market mapping and comparative analysis of external equity managers to support manager selection, evaluating track records, strategy fit, team capabilities, and alignment.
  • Over time, gain exposure to developed‑market equities, fixed income, and hedge fund strategies, broadening analytical and portfolio‑construction skills.
  • Work closely with the broader investment team across public and private markets, supporting portfolio construction, monitoring, and ongoing research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Advanced degree or professional certification (CFA, CAIA) is a plus.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, and due diligence. Previous experience in investment banking, or asset management is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and quantitative analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and attention to detail.
